Name of the NGDO: Luxembourg Red Cross

Project Name: Strengthening the resilience to climate change of vulnerable communities in Kanyosha Commune in Bujumbura Rural Province, Burundi

Project location: Burkina Faso, Province of Sanguié, Commune of Ténado

Partner name: Burkina Faso Red Cross

About the project...

April 2021-March 2026: This action will contribute to the objectives of the framework convention on climate change mitigation, adaptation to climate change and desertification. Concerning the mitigation of climate change, it will limit anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) into the atmosphere. The RIO marker that will be influenced by these activities is “23183 – Energy efficiency – Adaptation score: 1, Mitigation score: 2”.

Thus, the operation of Biodigesters will make it possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions thanks to the preserved biomass. The use of animal waste (cow dung/pig droppings) as a source of supply for Biodigesters will provide households with access to clean energy and will lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (reduction of abusive exploitation). trees), which will help combat the degradation of plant cover. In addition, the project plans to carry out capacity building activities on Biodigester technology as well as raising awareness of the population on climate change in order to encourage behaviors promoting adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
