About the project...
The Strengthening the Resilience to Climate Change of Vulnerable Communities project is a climate project, it is implemented in the commune of Kanyosha, one of the nine (09) communes in the province of Bujumbura Rural. This municipality is particularly threatened by climate change and these current hazards which have a strong negative impact on the living conditions of the population.
We note among other things:

The destruction of homes and socio-economic infrastructure (roads, bridges and schools, etc.) with the risk of loss of human life,

The acceleration of erosion and the loss of crops, etc.
The objective of this project is to strengthen the capacities for adaptation, mitigation and resilience to climate change of vulnerable communities in the Kanyosha commune in the Province of Bujumbura Rural. It is specifically about increasing the preparation and response capacities for erosion and landslides of the vulnerable population of the Kanyosha Commune.
By achieving these 4 results: Reforestation of barren hills Protection of areas at risk against erosion and landslides Popularization of improved stoves Raising public awareness of climate change and improved stoves
The main activities are: Development of 3 nurseries for the production of 1,200,000 agro-forestry plants and transplanting of the plants produced - Plant 12,000 bamboos on the banks of the Kanyosha and Ntahangwa rivers Dig X km of contour lines protected by fixative grasses and fodder plants Purchase and distribution of materials to strengthen the capacities of community Disaster Risk Reduction committees Train volunteers and build 2,400 improved homes in all the hills Host interactive radio shows on the theme of climate change Establishment and training of the committee for monitoring and sustainability of measures to adapt to climate change, etc.
